Driving into Maine, there's a large sign that declares: "Maine -- The Way Life Should
Be." Nowhere is that more true than in Rockport, which has a longstanding reputation
as an artists' community, with notable artists and art institutions playing a significant
role in the town's social life. The Farnsworth Art Museum celebrates Maine's important
role in American art and makes a delightful excursion. Also be sure to see the Owl's
Head Transportation and Maine Lighthouse Museums, historic homes, and majestic lighthouses.
