Afyon is a mountainous region, inland from the Aegean coast and a member of the European Association of Historic Towns and Regions. Visitors can view the remains of the ancient Hittite, Phrygian, Lydian peoples. In the Phrygian Valley discover the ruins of Midas ?ehri, the rock-cut settlement containing relics of the lost civilization of King Midas, and the Ulu Camii (the Great Mosque), Alt?göz Bridge and Mevlana Dervish museum are also nearby.
